Carbonated soft drink container manufacture imposes simultaneous demands on hoop tensile strength, stress-crack resistance, and residual acetaldehyde because dissolved CO₂ generates internal pressure of 0.35–0.60 MPa at 20°C depending on carbonation level. When YS-Y01 is supplied at a bottle-grade intrinsic viscosity within 0.78–0.82 dL/g by ASTM D4603-21, preform injection is operated at melt temperatures of 265–280°C, hot runner temperatures of 270–285°C, and a screw L/D ratio of 20:1–25:1 with compression ratio 2.5:1–3.0:1. Desiccant drying with a dew point below -40°C to residual moisture below 30 ppm per ISO 15512:2019 is mandatory because hydrolytic IV loss during injection raises free acetaldehyde above the sensory threshold of 10–20 µg/L in carbonated water. The compliance envelope for United States beverage contact is 21 CFR 177.1630(b); European migration is evaluated under Regulation (EU) No 10/2011 Annex I with an acetaldehyde SML of 6 mg/kg in 3% acetic acid simulant, while CO₂ retention is measured by ASTM F1115-16, drop impact by ASTM D2463-23, and residual acetaldehyde in preforms by ASTM F2013-10. The base dry blend is 90–100 wt% YS-Y01, 0–10 wt% bottle-to-bottle rPET, and 0.3–0.8 wt% colorant masterbatch adjusted to total 100 wt%; an acetaldehyde scavenger is not normally required if preform residence time stays below 3 min and melt temperature is held under 285°C. Two-stage reheat stretch blow molding then conditions injection-molded preforms to a surface temperature of 100–110°C measured by IR pyrometer, applies an axial stretch ratio of 2.2–2.6:1 and hoop stretch ratio of 3.4–4.0:1, and blows at 30–38 bar into a mold held at 5–12°C. Preform injection on a 48-cavity system requires cavity-to-cavity fill imbalance below 1.5% because the hottest cavities extend melt residence time and amplify acetaldehyde spread; preform crystallinity should remain below 3% by density measurement according to ASTM D1505-18 to avoid stretch-induced stress whitening. Petaloid base geometry is verified by ultrasonic wall thickness mapping, and top-load retention is checked by ASTM D2659-16. Amine-based additives and high-pH formulations are incompatible because they accelerate ester hydrolysis and reduce the CO₂ retention safety margin. Terminal formats include 250 mL, 330 mL, 500 mL, 1.0 L, 1.5 L, and 2.0 L CSD bottles.
In still-water filling lines where throughput exceeds 30,000 bottles per hour, the dominant YS-Y01 requirement shifts from carbonation stress resistance to preform light-weighting stability and neck finish dimensional repeatability. One-stage injection stretch blow molding equipment with 16–24 cavities uses a YS-Y01 dry blend of 70–100 wt% virgin resin and 0–30 wt% food-grade rPET adjusted to 100 wt%, with no processing aid; the maximum rPET fraction is set at 30 wt% only when the rPET lot is covered by an EFSA recycling process authorisation or a US FDA letter of no objection, because flake-derived pellet blends create bulk density variation between 0.72 g/cm³ and 0.82 g/cm³ that requires closed-loop gravimetric dosing. Potable water contact compliance is assessed under 21 CFR 177.1630, Regulation (EU) No 10/2011 with an overall migration limit of 10 mg/dm², and GB 4806.7-2016; in North America, NSF/ANSI 61 certification is normally obtained by the filler rather than the resin supplier. The single-stage ISBM process uses a barrel temperature profile of 260–275°C, preform cooling water at 5–8°C, stretch pin speed of 0.8–1.2 m/s, blow mold temperature of 8–12°C, and a cycle time of 8–12 s for 500 mL containers. Label panel wall thickness is controlled to 0.18–0.25 mm; further reductions are released only after top-load testing per ASTM D2659-16. Processing at moisture above 50 ppm is incompatible with lightweight preform stability because hydrolysis-induced IV loss creates silver streaks and blow-outs. High-speed lines also require hot runner temperature drift below ±2°C across cavities to prevent gate vestige variation and neck finish ovality failures. Terminal formats include 200 mL, 330 mL, 500 mL, 750 mL, 1.0 L, 1.5 L, and 5 L still water bottles.
Heat-set blow molding of YS-Y01 for hot-fill tea, juice and sports drinks introduces a processing conflict between sidewall crystallinity development and panel resistance. Elevating blow mold temperature above 130°C increases sidewall crystallinity above 30%, but the container must be held under blowing air for 0.4–0.8 s to reduce post-demolding shrinkage; if mold temperature falls below 110°C, fill-line shrinkage at 85°C often exceeds 1.5% and causes unacceptable vacuum panel deformation. Compliance for hot-fill containers is evaluated under 21 CFR 177.1630 and Regulation (EU) No 10/2011 with 3% acetic acid simulant, with dimensional stability and top-load retention checked after hot-fill simulation according to ASTM D2659-16. YS-Y01 is used at 100 wt% without nucleating fillers to avoid impact loss; UV absorber masterbatch is metered at 0.2–0.5 phr for cold-chain tea products, and oxygen scavenger masterbatch is added at 1.0–3.0 phr only when ascorbic acid retention exceeds 60 days. Two-stage reheat stretch blow molding operates with blow mold temperature 120–140°C, preform surface temperature 115–125°C, axial stretch ratio 2.3–2.7:1, hoop stretch ratio 3.2–3.8:1, blow pressure 32–38 bar, and exhaust time 0.5–1.0 s. Mold thermal recovery at cycle times below 9 s is a recognized bottleneck; if cavity plate temperature control cannot maintain ±3°C, the 85°C fill-line shrinkage test will show unacceptable spread. Density-derived crystallinity is measured according to ASTM D1505-18; readings above 35% are not required for ordinary hot-fill and reduce sidewall toughness. Terminal formats include 300 mL, 500 mL, 750 mL, 1.0 L, and 1.5 L hot-fill tea, juice, isotonic, and vitamin water bottles.
With edible oil and soy sauce packaging, oxidative rancidity rather than carbonation loss determines the blend ratio of YS-Y01 to masterbatch and the preform wall thickness distribution. Food-contact compliance for fatty liquids is assessed under 21 CFR 177.1630, Regulation (EU) No 10/2011 Annex III with simulant D2 vegetable oil, and GB 4806.7-2016; antimony specific migration is limited to 0.04 mg/kg under EU 10/2011. The dry blend is 96–100 wt% YS-Y01 with 0–4 wt% masterbatch adjusted to 100 wt%; slip aids are avoided because surface lubricants reduce ink adhesion on label panels. Two-stage reheat stretch blow molding runs preform injection at 270–275°C, conditioning at 105–112°C, axial stretch ratio limited to 2.0–2.4:1 and hoop stretch ratio to 3.0–3.5:1 to reduce stress-induced oxygen permeability at the panel; blow mold temperature is held at 10–15°C. For edible oil, headspace nitrogen purge and dark-green masterbatch at 0.5–1.0 wt% are common to protect oxygen-sensitive oils; soy sauce bottles use a narrower neck finish and smaller panel wall thickness because aqueous saline filling generates lower migration stress than vegetable oil. Excessive masterbatch loading above 4 wt% is avoided because pigment migration into fatty simulant D2 can elevate overall migration data. Terminal product types include 500 mL, 750 mL, 1.0 L, 1.5 L, 2.0 L, and 5 L edible oil bottles and 250 mL–1.0 L soy sauce and sauce bottles.
Post-consumer rPET blending in personal care and household chemical containers is driven by brand minimum recycled content targets rather than barrier performance; however, the addition of post-consumer recyclate to YS-Y01 before injection modifies the acetaldehyde and fragrance sorption envelope because rPET lots may carry residues of cosmetic oils, detergents, or melt-phase impurities. The base dry blend is 70–90 wt% YS-Y01 and 10–30 wt% food-contact-approved rPET adjusted to 100 wt%; color and UV masterbatch is added at 0.5–1.5 phr external to the base blend. The rPET fraction reduces the dry blend intrinsic viscosity by 0.02–0.04 dL/g when rPET flake IV is in the 0.70–0.75 dL/g range, requiring an upward barrel temperature correction of 2–5°C to maintain preform melt viscosity. Compliance for cosmetic applications is derived from Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 Article 17 for packaging safety and REACH 1907/2006 Annex XVII; containers holding high-ethanol personal care formulas are stress-crack tested by immersion exposure per ASTM D543-20 in 50% ethanol at 40°C. Impact modifiers are omitted because they reduce clarity and can increase haze above 3% measured by ASTM D1003-21. Injection stretch blow molding uses preform injection at 265–275°C, conditioning at 100–110°C, and blow mold temperature of 8–15°C; thick-walled cosmetic pump bottles require injection compression of the neck finish to prevent sink marks and thread ovality. High-shear injection at screw speeds above 120 rpm should be avoided with rPET blends because shear heating accelerates acetaldehyde formation in the presence of residual alcohol impurities, and acetaldehyde scavenger capacity must be validated on the production line when rPET exceeds 30 wt%. Terminal product types include 100 mL, 150 mL, 200 mL, 250 mL, 300 mL, 500 mL, and 1 L cosmetic bottles, plus 500 mL–2 L household cleaner trigger spray bottles.
Because liquid oral pharmaceutical containers require extractables validation before commercial use, YS-Y01 is processed without recycled content and with a narrower set of processing aids than food beverage containers. Pharmacopoeial conformance is evaluated under USP <661.1> Plastic Materials of Construction, USP <661.2> Plastic Packaging Systems for Pharmaceutical Use, Ph. Eur. 3.1.15 Poly(ethylene terephthalate) for containers, and ICH Q3D for elemental impurities. The blend is 100 wt% virgin YS-Y01 with no rPET; desiccant drying to residual moisture below 30 ppm per ISO 15512:2019 is required, and an antistatic masterbatch at 0.1–0.3 phr is introduced only when feeding trials show pellet bridging. Injection blow molding or two-stage injection stretch blow molding is performed in an ISO Class 8 cleanroom with barrel temperature 260–275°C, injection holding pressure 60–80 MPa, and blow mold temperature 10–15°C. Extractables validation often requires water and ethanol extraction at 40°C for 10 days, with total organic carbon limits set by the drug product manufacturer. Terminal sterilization above 121°C is incompatible with standard bottle-grade YS-Y01 unless heat-set cycle crystallinity is deliberately increased, so applications are limited to oral liquids, dry syrups, effervescent tablets, and nutraceutical solid dosage forms. Terminal product types include 50 mL, 100 mL, 150 mL, 200 mL, 250 mL, and 500 mL oral liquid bottles, 100–250 mL dry syrup bottles, and 30–150 mL nutraceutical bottles.
